Fair Use Policy

This Fair Use Policy outlines storage practices for backing up attachments within our cloud system designed for Atlassian's Jira and Confluence cloud applications. While this policy focuses on attachments, it doesn't limit the number of projects, spaces, issues, pages, or configuration objects in your Jira and Confluence instance. In simpler terms, you have unlimited storage for those elements, but attachment storage has specific limits based on your user count, with a minimum and a maximum.

Data Storage Limits:

Jira Data Backup

Projects, Issues, Configuration Objects: Unlimited

Jira Attachments:

  • Minimum Storage: Every customer receives a minimum of 250 GB of storage dedicated to attachment data backup.

  • Maximum Storage: To ensure fair allocation of resources and optimal service performance, a maximum storage limit of 2 TB per customer applies to attachment data.

  • Additional Storage for Large Teams: Customers exceeding 1,000 users will receive an additional 0.1 GB of storage per user for attachment data. This additional storage is automatically allocated based on active user count.

Confluence Data Backup

Spaces, Pages, Configuration Objects: Unlimited

Confluence Attachments:

  • Minimum Storage: Every customer receives a minimum of 250 GB of storage dedicated to attachment data backup.

  • Maximum Storage: To ensure fair allocation of resources and optimal service performance, a maximum storage limit of 2 TB per customer applies to attachment data.

  • Additional Storage for Large Teams: Customers exceeding 1,000 users will receive an additional 0.1 GB of storage per user for attachment data. This additional storage is automatically allocated based on active user count.

Fair Use Guidelines:

Our goal is to provide a reliable and efficient backup solution for Jira and Confluence data. To achieve this, we encourage users to follow these fair use guidelines:

  • Regular Data Housekeeping: Regularly review and remove unnecessary attachments, particularly large files or outdated versions.

  • Optimize Attachment Sizes: Whenever possible, compress large attachments before uploading them to Jira or Confluence.

  • Utilize External Storage Solutions: Consider storing non-critical data, such as large media files, on alternative cloud storage platforms designed for those purposes.

  • Align with Your IT Policies:  It's important to ensure uploaded attachments in Jira and Confluence comply with your organization's IT policies. This may include restrictions on file types or content, such as personal media (movies, photos) etc..

Monitoring and Enforcement:

We monitor storage usage to ensure fair allocation of resources. We reserve the right to contact customers approaching or exceeding their storage limits and discuss options to manage their data. These options may include:

  • Implementing data archiving or deletion policies for less critical attachments.

  • Upgrading to a higher storage tier (if available).

Consequences of Non-Compliance:

Persistent disregard for fair use guidelines may result in:

  • Storage Throttling: Limited upload speeds for new attachments until storage space is freed.

  • Suspension of Backup Services: Temporary suspension of backup services until storage space is brought within acceptable limits.
